A woman and child have been taken to hospital after a fire in flats in East Ham. The fire service was called to a mid-terrace house converted into flats on Barking Road around 4.30am today (May 21).

Bernard and Caroline Cleall died in a house fire in Addiscombe after the smoke alarm was not heard by the operator during a panic button call.
